Dental Amalgam Waste
In 2001 the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) endorsed the Canada-wide Standard on Mercury for Dental Amalgam Waste (CWS). The standard established best management practices to achieve a 95% national reduction in mercury releases from dental amalgam waste discharges to the environment by 2005 from a base year of 2000.
