Water Allocation and Withdrawals

The conservation and wise use of water is needed to ensure human well-being, ecosystem functioning and strong economies. CCME is taking steps to improve jurisdictions' ability to evaluate cumulative impacts of allocation and withdrawals on surface water and groundwater. We are currently examining approaches and associated challenges for evaluating environmental flow needs and identifying environmental management gaps. This will then inform decisions about future CCME work on water allocation and withdrawals.
